Tucked away down a narrow street beside the Left Bank, Hôtel Relais Christine is a real hidden treasure. Behind a set of wrought iron gates is a pretty courtyard, dotted with greenery, and a majestic honey-stone townhouse. Once a medieval abbey, today it’s a boutique hotel that oozes period charm. Inside, old fireplaces, vaulted ceilings and wood panelling hung with portraits hint at the hotel’s past. With individually designed rooms that blend vintage glamour with splashes of contemporary style. 3, Rue Christine, St Germain des Pres Left Bank Boutique Hideaway Relais Christine Monsieur George Hotel 17, RueWashington Velvet Hempel Seduction Mirrors, velvet and exotic flourishes signal the latest interior design canvas from the mistress of boutique chic, Anouska Hempel. Monsieur George is a compact but sexy conversion of a Parisian townhouse complete with a miniature mews house in the rear courtyard housing one of the hotel’s feature suites. Hempel was tasked with creating a timeless yet modern hotel, bar and restaurant, offering a residential atmosphere within Paris’busy 8th arrondisement. Spread across six floors, the hotel comprises 46 guestrooms, including three suites, each boasting its own charm. Green Spaces Constantly seeking to improve itself from an eco-friendly perspective there are now grand plans for Paris to become Europe’s greenest city by 2030. Here are some eco-friendly things you can experience right now. Electric Seine Dinner Cruise Enjoy the magic of a cleaner, more sustainable river cruise aboard the Ducasse sur Seine. The brainchild of globally acclaimed French chef Alain Ducasse, the cruise is entirely electric and combines a luxury gourmet experience with a commitment to low-emission transport. Floating above Paris More than just an awesome view over Paris, Ballon Generali is basically a floating laboratory with an important role in measuring the city's air quality each day. Float up to 150 metres above the city in the world’s largest helium balloon whilst readings are taken measuring air quality. Flight time approximately 10 minutes. Wander along the Coulee Vert The René-Dumont Coulée Verte (previously the Promenade Plantée) is a 4.7km-long green walking trail that carries you along the abandoned Vincennes railway line. The project was such a success that it served as the inspiration for the famous New York High Line park too, which opened in 2009.
