The North Coast The best known - and most beautiful - section of coast in northern Brittany is surely the Cote de Granit Rose, to the north-west of the Cotes d'Armor department around Perros-Guirec and Ploumanac'h It is an area of sandy beaches and rocky coves, coastal footpaths and the famous 'pink granite' rocks which jut from the sea around the island of Bréhat, and are scattered along the headlands to the west. The area is well known for some fine stretches of beach and the town of Perros Guirec is the most popular resort along the coast. The main beach, called the Plage de Trestraou, is a long sandy beach sheltered by the rocky outlets of land on both ends of the beach that have some charming villas built on them. Castel Beau Site sits on a pretty beach in Ploumanac’h, in the heart of the Pink Granite Coast which extends over just ten kilometres from the neighbouring town of Perros-Guirec. You come here to regenerate, to breathe in the sea air and recharge your batteries in a unique, natural setting. Built in 1928, for a long time the hotel was a simple family-run boarding house. During the Second World War, the German army requisitioned it to accommodate officers, before the French Ministry of Defence recovered it in 1949, converting it into a holiday residence for soldiers. Today, after more recent renovations and new ownership, the hotel is part of the H8 Collection offering 33 guestrooms and suites spread over the three floors of the impressive residence. All boasting sea views, each space is a cocoon from where you can enjoy observing the great outdoors – whether it be calm, sunny or rough.
